Imperial Moth Caterpillar
This huge caterpillar was hanging out with us today at Uncle Stephens. I was not quite sure what it was other than a HUGE caterpillar about 3 inches long, fuzzy and green. One person said it was a tobacco worm but none of the Freeland's agreed... So I did what anyone would do... took a photo and sent it to facebook... My friend Tim told me what it was then we had our own little science class right there. Apparently the colder weather brings them down out of the trees to get ready to burrow into the ground where whey will stay until after winter. After that, they will emerge as a HUGE moth. The average wingspan of one of these guys is about 5-6 inches... I am sure I would scream if one of them flew at me!!!
FLOWERS
How cool are these pictures... Nanna has some plants out by the carport and this is what they looked like today... Most have already bloomed are ready to be harvested for their seeds...
I love barns
I love barns... big ones, small ones, tall ones, short ones... all barns... Contrary to popular belief, I was not raised in one although I used to spend my summers riding horses and hanging out at the barn. We did have sleepovers in those barns...
It's firing time.....
Tobacco... not people!!! I love getting to Cross Plains this time of year because it smells so good... (and of course to see Nanna and Pawpaw).. Brian and I drove around a little bit today and was able to see several barns "smoking"... I wonder how many people not from the area stop to tell them their barn is on fire!
Spa b-day party for J's 8th

Dollyw**d for Labor day weekend
We went to Dollyw**d for our Labor Day weekend and we had such a great time. We pretty much stayed in the kids area but next time, I have a feeling we will be trying some of the "bigger" kid rides.

Brian's Shoulder Surgery
Just a quick family note that all is well... He had a hooked bone spur shooting off his collarbone that was hitting his rotator cuff when he raised his right arm. Well ... not anymore. There was no damage to the rotator cuff and he has 3 small incision that will heal soon. There will be some physical therapy (that will hurt) but should be up and about in a few weeks!!!
